You don’t have 20 sec? Think again.

I got a lot of enquiries lately on the ESSENTIAL OILS I’m using on a daily basis. I can just say that I love them & that they support me not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally.
.
Using dōTERRA essential oils has also taught me to connect even deeper with what’s going on inside me, because in order to use the ‘right’ oil, I need to check-in with myself first, to understand my needs and desires. .
To keep the information as simple as possible, I wanted to start by sharing with you my OIL ROUTINE.

1️⃣ I get up, go to the kitchen, put one drop of peppermint oil into the palm of my hands. Rub hands together, hold them in front of nose and inhale deeply for three times.
RESULT: Immediate energizer to wake me up. It’s also great when you feel tired in the afternoon.

2️⃣ One drop of Copaiba under my tongue supports a healthy immune and cardiovascular system.
RESULT: Soothes anxious feelings, also and especially preventatively.

3️⃣ After my shower, I put 2 drops of Balance oil on the soles of my feet. It has like the name suggests balancing properties.
RESULT: A rooting and grounding feeling.

4️⃣ Over the course of the day, I put 2 drops of Lemon oil, Grapefruit oil or Basil oil in 1litre of water. Lemon is cleansing and refreshing, Grapefruit supports a healthy metabolism and Basil is really good in states of exhaustion, overwhelm and fatigue. I also love Spearmint, it is the oil for speakers, for people who speak a lot, like I do in my coaching sessions and yoga lessons.

5️⃣ When I work at home, which I often do, I switch on my diffuser with an oil combination suitable to my needs, for example, energy, focus, calming, etc. Just go with the flow.

6️⃣ Towards the afternoon, I inhale Peppermint again and use additional oils as per my desired results.

7️⃣ In the evenings, I diffuse Lavender. I also apply Lavender onto my wrists and behind my ears before bed to aid a restful sleep.
RESULT: Calming and peaceful.

8️⃣ At last, I put one drop of Frankincense oil under my tongue to support my entire body and mind system. It is also the oil to support cell regeneration, and works well against wrinkles when applied to skin directly. RESULT: Less wrinkles, better skin.

If you now hold to an excuse of “Oh that’s time-consuming”, think again, because every step listed here literally takes about 20 seconds. BOOM‼️

Move your body into flow state!

Dear all,

as most of you will know, movement is one of the most important aspects in my life. Not only because it simply makes me feel better, but also because it is essential to our overall health and wellbeing.

And I talk health on a holistic level, meaning you want to be healthy physically, mentally and emotionally.

Watch this video on YouTube, how I am able to move my body into flow state and how you can do that, too and what benefits you’ll be reaping. Enjoy watching!

Limit the input

Does this headline sound contradicting to you for a blog that is predominantly about personal growth? Definitely read on.

Over the past 4 years, I’ve been diving deeper into myself, also referred to as personal development. I reflected not only on myself, my fears and my limitations, but also on how this showed in my relationships, with friends, family and partners.

On this journey – which is an ongoing process – I have learned a lot about myself. I was able to dissolve certain behavioural patterns that were limiting me due to underlying fears. I tuned deeper into my body to let go of tensions that have been building up and manifesting in my body for way too long. I work with coaches both personally and professionally to become the best version of myself. I completed an NLP training to improve my communication skills, to dive deeper into self-reflection and to change patterns that didn’t serve me any more with the clear objective to build a life that I really want to live.

So far so good. I believe that this ongoing journey of self-reflection and self-development is awesome. I  really wouldn’t change a thing looking back. It all served its purpose; every single change, every heartbreak, every challenge that I encountered in my life so far, were signs of the universe to correct my course; by looking deeper, by understanding and by initiating change.

More sensitivity

What I am also observing whilst being on this journey is that I’ve become way more sensitive with all my senses. I hear more, I see more, I feel more. I’d even say I smell and taste more thanks to my work with dōTERRA essential oils.

To really break this down for you, I hear people talking, the bells of the church, sirens, cars, children, water flowing, my steps on the ground, my diffuser running. I hear podcasts, audios and music. I hear myself talking. I could keep going.

I see more. My vision has expanded. I perceive more people in the tube and also what they do. I see the trees moving in the wind, children playing in the streets, people drinking coffee, I see people looking at other people, I observe couples walking hand in hand, I see the sun, the moon and the sky being in movement.

I feel more. I’ve become way more kinaesthetic, I’ve improved my awareness of the position and movement of the parts of my body. I can feel tension way quicker and I do know how to release it faster. I perceive (more) vibes from other people, their feelings, their energies, their current state of being. Again, I could keep going.

More input – more output?

My point is that this increased awareness also means that I sometimes must limit the input, as otherwise it becomes too overwhelming. At a certain point in a certain phase, more input simply doesn’t mean more output. It is essential at this point to limit the input and to focus on processing and digesting all of it. I am only human, as are you, so I figured it’s okay to limit my input.

How?

By closing my eyes just like on the pic. By spending more time by myself. I have noticed that I need more me-time and less together-time when in a phase of limiting input. This means that I would have lunch breaks on my own instead of going with others. I’m not going out a lot at the moment and unfortunately I haven’t been dancing a lot lately. Yes, it is a process of withdrawing myself, and whilst I’ve had phases where I didn’t even understand why I was doing it, I am now fully embracing my need of being alone. Depending on the current life and business set up, the people surrounding me do not always understand my behaviour and my withdrawal, which in return isn’t always easy for me to accept. Yet, I’m learning and growing through this process and I accept that this is part of my personal journey, too and that I do not have to or want to justify for that. It is what I need.

And it’s okay!

I’ve for sure learned that it is okay for me to withdraw myself, if it all gets too much. I’m understanding that my increased awareness and self-reflection led me to being a more sensitive human being called Nina. Whilst in the past I was 90% outgoing, social and extroverted, I am now in need of downtime and quiet time, too. These two facets allow me a better balance in life, more time to process and digest situations, and very importantly, more self-love. I’m freeing myself as much as possible from the opinion of others when it comes to my health and my wellbeing. No, it’s not always easy, but you gotta do what is right, not what’s easy.

Go with what you need!

When I feel the need to socialise, I will. When I feel the need to be alone, I will. When I feel the need to be active, I will. When I feel the need not to talk about certain topics, I won’t. When I feel the need to set boundaries, I will. When I feel the need to speak up, I will. And no, this is never against someone or something, it just means I follow up on what I need and follow through with it.

You can do this, too. Limit your input when you feel like it and don’t feel bad for it.

Love,

yours Nina

Heal your soul

The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life. (Iyengar)

For me, body, mind and soul are interconnected with each other and I cannot see these three areas of my life separately. For that reason I love the quote by Iyengar, which expresses the connection of body, mind and soul and how this creates the symphony of your life. This to me shows that we need to take care of all areas of our life. We need to design our life in a way that we see results in all areas of our life. The minimum requirements however in order to live a successful life for full happiness are for me:

  • Feeling and tuning into my body.
  • Understanding and observing my mind.
  • Healing myself holistically whilst integrating my soul.

This is a holistic approach that works perfectly for me and I’d love for you to make your own experiences, so why don’t you just what worked for me? Let me guide you.

After having explored how to feel your body and understand your mind, you’ve now made it to part 3 of my holistic approach ‘Heal your soul’. When you’ve already been following my work as Life & Business Strategist, then you’ll know that I love the healing power of natural essential oils from dōTERRA . For me, it’s all about integrating them into my daily life to benefit from its health promoting properties, on a physical, mental and emotional level.

What do you think is yet again the most important requirement to heal your soul? Yes, that’s right. It’s self-love. In my opinion, self-love is key to your life, as it forms the base to your wellbeing. Because how can you feel your body, if you don’t start talking to yourself nicely? How can you understand your mind and observe your thoughts, if you are running away from yourself? How can you heal your soul, if you don’t love yourself for everything that you are?

Do I have bad days? Yes. Do I have days where I’m too hard on myself? Yes, I do. Do I have days where I don’t understand myself? Sure. And do I face days where tuning into my body is coming too short? Of course. You know why? Because I am a human being and so are you. It is part of life to go through cycles, up and down. Better days and worse. At the same time, I do notice my behaviours, as I’m continuously developing my mind and I observe my thoughts and behaviours.

To facilitate your self-love journey as well as supporting you with tuning into your body, understanding your mind and healing your soul, I’ve pulled together a powerful three-step oil routine for you that works perfectly holistically. Following this routine on a daily basis supports you in accepting and loving yourself more; it helps you let go of untruths and limiting beliefs which in return means you have the power to reconnect and reveal your true self; and it encourages you to express yourself and speak your truth so that you can come back to who you really are.

Are you just as excited about this as I am? Then follow this simple, yet powerful routine:

  1. OIL OF SELF LOVE: Put one drop of Bergamot oil into your palm, rub gently, then inhale and exhale deeply for three times with your eyes closed. Relax and enjoy the uplifting properties of this oil.
  2. OIL OF TRUTH: Put one drop of Frankincense oil into your palm, rub gently, then inhale and exhale deeply for three times with your eyes closed. Relax and enjoy the spiritually connecting properties of this oil.
  3. OIL OF COMMUNICATION & CALM: Put one drop of Lavender oil into your palm, rub gently, then inhale and exhale deeply for three times with your eyes closed. Relax and enjoy the calming, expressive properties of this oil.

Feel your body

The central thought for this article is self-love. Awake to the knowing that a successful body gives you energy and lightness.

Be aware and know that your body is there for your wellbeing. Treat your body accordingly. See your body as your friend, your best friend.

  • Observe how you talk to your body. Would you talk like this, if it was your best friend’s body?
  • Observe how you look at your body. Would you look at it like this, if it was your best friend’s body?
  • Observe how you feel in your body. Would you like it, if your best friend felt like this in her* body?
*Solely for the ease of writing, I will refer to she/her without any discrimination.

I know not only from myself, but also from family and friends and even acquaintances how hard we are on ourselves when it comes to our body, be it height, weight or size. However, when our best friend complains about being too small, too tall, too thin or too big, we immediately tell that person how beautiful she is just the way she is.

Sounds familiar? Doesn’t that feel strange to you? Don’t you feel disconnected when reading this?

Now, I want you to feel amazing in your body. I want you to look in the mirror thinking ‘Wow’. I want you to look down on yourself thinking ‘Wow’. I want you to walk through life feeling connected with yourself, because you think ‘Wow’, because you love yourself. Self-love is not only key, it is the base to your wellbeing.

In order to feel your body, it is essential to tune into it. Feel, observe, and perceive any tensions that you might hold. Consciously or not. Be aware, be present, be curious. And especially, be kind to yourself. Do not fight your body, befriend it.

Do you want to befriend your body? Do you want to get guidance from me on how to tune into your body and feel your body? Then get my eBook FEEL UNDERSTAND HEAL #1 on Amazon. Watch yourself

When I say watch, I mean watch others and watch yourself. I mean watching in a very positive way. Watching as in observing. To make things easier, watch others first, just observe without any valuation, rating, or prejudice, just watch. Be mindful when watching. Then go watch yourself. Watch yourself from within.

Watch others

I’ve always been an observer. Ever since I can remember, I enjoyed watching and observing other people. When walking, when sitting in a cafe, whilst eating. And although I don’t usually initiate these activities solely for the purpose of observing, I noticed just how observant and ‘watchfully’ I am whilst watching others. So, the process of watching is very mindful indeed. It happens now.

When interacting with people, watch them. For example, if you ask someone ‘How are you?’, watch their reaction. Are they really happy, when they say ‘I’m great.’ or does their body language, tonality and voice express something differently? Are their eyes shining or not? Is their voice trembling or clear? Do they continue breathing or do they hold their breath? If we speak our truth, our body language automatically resonates and aligns with our words, with the content we are speaking. However, if we don’t, our body language and content are incongruent. For the act of watching others, this means that the other person is most likely not speaking the truth. So, watch!

Watch yourself

It’s way easier to watch others first, to observe, to notice, to be mindful in the observation moment. It’s also a beautiful practice to go a step further. From watching others to watching yourself. Watch yourself from within.

By observing others you will learn how to observe yourself. It will give you guidance. You will be able to transfer your learnings by observing others onto yourself. Watch yourself, when you speak something out loud, for example ‘I’m so happy’. Do you really feel this deep down in your body? Are you happy from the inside out? Are your eyes glowing? Is your breath getting positively excited? Do you feel like dancing? Do you want to hug the entire world? Yes, then I’m sure you are happy from the inside out. But observe. Is your body language really congruent with your words ‘I’m so happy’ or is there something inside you that doesn’t feel right? Are you for example holding your breath? Does your voice sound a bit sad? Do you feel a bit of a tweak when speaking these words out loud? Watch yourself.

If you speak your truth, your whole body will feel this truth, there won’t be any blockades. However when not speaking your truth, which means lying to yourself, your whole body will tell and show you in the form of blockades, retained energies, tensions, physical pain and a disturbed breathing.

Avoid conflict

By watching yourself from within, by observing your words and related body language, by noticing your breath and your entire body, you’ll be able to reveal your truth, your true self. You will be more mindful and aware of whether you speak the truth or not. If you speak the truth you will feel aligned, light and happy. You will feel complete. In order to feel complete, we must avoid conflict. Conflict arises when we don’t speak our truth. Completeness arises when we do.

Aligned Yogi

As you know, I love yoga and here’s yet another reason why. It’s connected with the idea of feeling complete, at peace with life, as we do speak our truth. A yogi is a person who is complete, fully aligned, one who doesn’t face conflict from within, because a yogi always speaks his truth.

Beautiful and complete life

Isn’t it beautiful that by watching ourselves over time, we can learn, we can grow and we can live a true life? We can feel totally complete. Note that the feeling of completeness does not only relate to big moments in life, on the contrary, you can make every single moment complete, as small or big.

You and only you are the creator of your completeness.

Yours, Nina

Reconnect

I’ve heard the words ‘Connect’, ‘Disconnected’ and ‘Reconnect’ a lot lately. Maybe this is because so many people feel disconnected from themselves and want to reconnect with their body, mind, and spirit, or I’ve noticed it increasingly since it has become one of my favourite topics. I truly believe that if we lost connection with ourselves that we can get it back, we can build the connection with ourselves again. We can reconnect.

Reconnect on different levels

In my opinion, this needs to happen on different levels, physically, mentally and spiritually. Reconnecting with yourself means first of all to become aware, of your body, mind and soul. Ask yourself what is going on here? Where are my pain points physically? Where is my mind going? What keeps my mind busy? Is your soul telling you something? Do you sometimes feel restless? Why? When do you feel most disconnected with yourself? When do you most feel the urge to connect with yourself?

Notice and sit with it

Become aware, notice and sit with it to start with. You don’t have to take any action right away. I know it’s difficult, but it’s better not to fight it, because that would mean you are fighting life, and that in return would mean that you are fighting yourself.

So, start with bringing more awareness into your being. De-automize your being and your actions, whatever you do, do it less automatically, more consciously. Bring more awareness into your life.

Maybe you wonder now, what this is all about and how this should help you reconnect?

Awareness

I know from experience that bringing more awareness to my being, to my body, mind and soul is the first and only step required to commence the reconnection process.

How do you think you can connect with your beautiful life, if you don’t start connecting with yourself? How can you see, feel, smell and taste all the beautiful things in our world, if you cannot even see or feel yourself? Awareness and appreciation are your entry to reconnect with yourself.  Use your 5 senses consciously to bring more awareness into your life, they’ve been given to us with reason, so use them and enjoy them.

Feel Understand Heal

Once you feel & understand, you can heal. Once you start your individual reconnection process, you can come closer to your true self. Once you start the journey becoming the real you, you’ll feel lighter and happier. Of course, there will be difficult moments, of course, you won’t feel light 24/7, but again I know from my own inner journey how amazingly rewarding it is to start this process. To walk the liberating path of personal development.

A liberating feeling

It is liberating. ‘Cause every day feels lighter, with less bullshit, instead with more awareness and gratitude, especially for the small things in our life. Because I also noticed one more thing, it is not really the big things that make up our lives, it is the small things.

And if we manage to appreciate the small things, if we manage to appreciate ourselves, we can reconnect with ourselves, we can let go of bullshit and instead embrace all the beautiful new things flowing (or flooding!) into our lives.

Become yourself

The closer you get to yourself, the more you become yourself, the lighter you will feel and the happier you will be. Because you are truly you. Isn’t that a wonderful outlook?

You can be happy only if you become yourself

If you feel disconnected, if you sometimes wonder who you are, if you truly want to start your reconnection journey, but don’t know where to start, then I cannot imagine anything more beautiful than supporting you on your journey and taking that first step.

I have been on this journey (still am, it’s an ongoing process) and whilst it was tough at times, I am deeply grateful to have (had) people by my side supporting me.

If you resonate with this blog post, then check out my 3-hour workshop FEEL UNDERSTAND HEAL that I will be holding in Munich on Tuesday, 22nd May. I’m so excited about this journey and it gets better every day (with some exceptions haha).

Love to life, love to you and love to myself.

Yours, Nina

Yoga Teacher Training-Episode 1

As promised, I would like to share with you my experiences during my yoga teacher training (YTT), which started on Friday. I will be putting up a post for each of the 8 weekends in total, so this one is episode 1. Stay tuned, if you want to know more about my insights, ’cause maybe you are considering a training, too?

First things first, I’ve been so much looking forward to my training, meeting new people with hopefully a similar and positive mindset, and getting deeper into my yoga practice.

We started the YTT with an introduction about who we are, what we usually do (work-wise), how long we’ve been practicing yoga, which styles, if we are already teaching, if we have completed a training already, and most importantly why we are here.

Why am I here?

I decided to do the yoga teacher training to get deeper into my practice and to learn more about the yoga philosophy. Where is yoga coming from? What does it stand for in its purest form? What’s the ultimate purpose of yoga? Another reason for me was to go on an even deeper spiritual journey in a safe environment with the wish to solve some topics for myself, too. Topics where I feel stuck, and that manifest themselves in my mind & body.

After the introduction, we went straight into the asana practice with Nella. We started with standing poses such as Tadasana, Utthita Hatasana, Uttanasana and Utkatasana. Writing this is a great way to learn the Sanskrit names. With each of the asanas, we clarified what the positive effects are on the body and most importantly how your alignment should be in the asana to avoid misalignment and injury. We followed the same process for Adho Mukha Svanasana (downward facing dog). The teachers and assistants would then normally pick about 3 people from the group to show common challenges and risks in each asana. These will then be discussed and corrected. We also learned modifications and which tools (such as blocks, belt etc.) to use when necessary. After a few hours of valuable yoga practice, we finished the practice with a relaxing and reviving Yoga Nidra session. Gosh, how I love this! I’m heading home smiley and happy and ready to sleep.

Conclusion: The first day was a full success. We are a nice bunch of people, all different, and yet with one thing that connects us all… yoga.

Day 2 starts at 9.00am with a meditation and continues with a beautiful yoga practice of approximately 2.5 hours. I can definitely say that I’ve not felt my muscles like this before. Each asana is complex on its own, even Tadasana is challenging if you really make all the changes in your body. I must say I already love this feeling of feeling my entire body, all my muscles and my mental presence so much.

Then we get to hands-on assists. Assists are so valuable, if received by an experienced teacher. The corrections do not only go into your head, but into your body and mind. If you just let go, you can feel the changes and it feels amazing. It’s this Aha moment.

Pretty soon thereafter we go together in groups of 3 and teach our own class consisting of 3 asanas, including verbal corrections and assists. I start in our group and I really do enjoy it. Yes, I forgot to mention all the relevant points in each asana, but hey this is what we are here for. Most importantly, I keep thinking, yes I love this! We finish the day with a 15 minute Savasana, where I receive an absolutely wonderful neck and shoulder massage from one of our assistants. I leave the yoga studio at 5pm feeling fulfilled.

Conclusion: The 2nd day provided so much input already and I cannot wait to make use of it all in my own yoga practice.

Day 3 is our spiritual philosophy day with Ralph. I’ve been really looking forward to this part too, because as you know I like personal development, I love yoga and I love the spiritual journey we are all on, consciously or not. Actually writing this article makes me realise how complex and yet simple this topic is. But I’m struggling to summarise the day at this stage. We spoke about where the term yoga stems from, what yoga actually means (it means self-fulfilment), we spoke about immortality, but how we all need to die one day. Most importantly though we realised that we have one more thing in common, in addition to practicing yoga. We are all on the search for our purpose of existence. Some want to know more, some less, but at the end of the day, we are all trying to find our place in life, on earth.

Conclusion: This YTT is one of the best decisions I’ve made so far. A heart decision, that I’m sure will open up new spaces physically, mentally and emotionally.

Yours, Nina
